Saint John's imposing granite and cast stone building anchors one end of the business district at the corner of East Main & Dock Streets. Founded in 1862 as a German Reformed congregation, we are historically affiliated with the  the United Church of Christ.

Where can I park when visiting Saint John's?

  • A small parking lot is located on the east side of the church. Ample on-street parking is located on East Main Street and Dock Street. Parking is also available (Sunday mornings only) in the parking lot at Suglia's Restaurant accessed from River Street.  

Where do I enter and where do I go?

  • You may enter through either the East or West Entrance doors where our friendly greeters will welcome you and direct you. Wayfaring signs are also located throughout the building to assist you. Please note that some COVID-19 restrictions may still be in place.

Is the church building accessible to those with disabilities?

  • Saint John's is an accessible facility. Reserved parking spaces are available in the parking lot adjacent to the church building and directly in front of the church on East Main Street. Access ramps are located at the West Entrance to the first floor and at the River Street Entrance to the lower level. An elevator can be found inside the West Entrance. Accessible seating is available in the Sanctuary and our restrooms meet ADA standards. Please speak to a greeter or usher if you need additional assistance. 

What is worship like at Saint John's?

  • Our worship style is "casual traditional". We sing traditional hymns, use an order of worship, and follow the Revised Common Lectionary (traditional scriptures and church seasons). We attempt to balance this structure with a more relaxed approach.

How should I dress for worship?

  • We are happy to have you worship God with us and encourage you to dress as you feel would be acceptable to God. Our worshippers clothing varies from suits and dresses to jeans and sweatshirts..

How do I plan an event at the church?

  • WEDDINGS - It is advisable to contact the Church Office as soon as possible to reserve a date on the calendar. 

  • BAPTISMS are conducted as a part of our worship service. Please contact the Church Office for more information. 

  • FUNERALS may be held in the Chapel or Sanctuary depending on size and circumstances. Biddle Hall is also available for funeral luncheons and dinners. Please contact the Church Office as soon as possible so that all arrangements can be made in a timely manner.

  • RENTALS have now resumed! Rentals are available by contacting the Church Office and completing a facilities request form. We have several venues available based on the size of your group and planned use. We simply ask a nominal fee or contribution to the church depending on circumstances.

How do become a member of Saint John's?

  • Membership at Saint John's can be obtained by Letter of Transfer for those who are in good standing in a Christian Church. Adult confirmation and new member orientation classes are scheduled as needed. Please contact the Church Office for additional information.
